Buying The Farm (Where The Farm = Crucial Audio Machinery)

After weeks of talk, and weeks of the PA at Dempsey’s fizzling, cracking and acting more like, like something that conducts no sound whatsoever than a working PA system, I finally broke down last night and bought a Fender P-150. Hopefully, It’ll be good enough to cover the room (I tested it last night and it worked fine), and while we’ll have to move from our table in the bck to the end of the bar in order to have the thing work without wires being underfoot all over the bar, this was both inevitable and a very good thing.

Now the bar won’t have to change over their entire system just to indulge our little circus for two hours a week, and Steve, our favorite sound guy, can just come and enjoy his genius like the rest of your do instead of having to work on his day off like a doctor at Christmas. And it can play MP3s, which means I don’t have to bring the boombox anymore, so that’s one less thing.

The only downside? Well, the thing is portable, but it still weighs about 35 pounds, and the stands for the speakers are another 20. Toting that plus prizes every week is a load. I’ll do it for you guys, but there’s still some kinks to be worked out over this. If I live, I’ll be one buff SOB.
